Vintage 2021

The 2021 vintage will go down as one for the record books—for many reasons—but from a vineyard perspective, it was one of the best seasons South Australia has seen in recent years. A wet winter delivered above-average rainfall, supporting strong early growth and healthy canopy development across the Kuitpo vineyard. This laid the foundation for what would become a textbook growing season.

The summer that followed was both cool and dry, allowing for slow, even ripening across all varieties. This long hang time encouraged excellent flavour development while preserving the natural acidity that defines our cool-climate wines. Bunches remained in pristine condition through to harvest, giving us the ability to pick at optimal ripeness without pressure from heat or disease.

Whites from 2021 show precision and drive, with standout parcels of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Grüner Veltliner showing both vibrancy and depth. The reds are equally promising, combining freshness and concentration with refined tannin structures. Across the board, 2021 is shaping up to be a benchmark vintage—balanced, expressive, and built to age.
