2019 K1 Cabernet Sauvignon

Story: Open canopies and low yields at the Kuitpo vineyard ensure that our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are matured to optimum ripeness.

Vintage: The 2019 growing season started with mild weather and below average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.

Nose: This wine offers restrained cool climate Cabernet aromas of cassis, blackberries and spice.

Palate: The palate is structured and elegant, medium to full-bodied with blackberries, cassis and chocolate accented by flashes of red berries and spice. It is complemented by supple fine tannins and a touch of mint on the long finish.

Food Pairings: Try the K1 Cabernet Sauvignon with a herb crusted lamb rack.

Oak Maturation: 30% new French oak for 18 months.
