2022 K1 Reserve Chardonnay

Story: K1 Reserve Chardonnay highlights the very best fruit from our Kuitpo vineyards cool growing conditions and terroir. The fruit is gently handled to ensure aromatics are retained before fermentation in French oak barriques. Each barrel is allowed to tell its own story, some completing malolactic fermentation, others holding a bright freshness that will have you salivating. The wine's seductive texture and mouthfeel add to the overall enjoyment of this well-balanced Chardonnay that just keeps giving.

Vintage: 2022 Higher than average rainfall over winter followed by a warm and dry spring resulting in even budburst and a textbook start for the vintage. A cool but relatively dry summer gave us beautiful ripening conditions. This slow ripening allows great flavour development and retention of natural acidity.

Nose: A fresh, inviting mix of crisp apple, grapefruit and lemon blossom, rounded out by a gentle almond softness.

Palate: The palate shows creamy lemon curd and pink grapefruit, supported by subtle notes of spice, warm toast and roasted hazelnuts for added depth and texture.

Pairing: A perfect match for mushroom gnocchi tossed in sage butter, where the wine’s richness and acidity complement the earthy, aromatic flavours of the dish. Click For Recipe
