Story: Arneis is a rare variety originating from Piedmont in Northwest Italy. After WWII Arneis almost became extinct as it is notoriously difficult to grow, hence it has earned the nickname “Little Rascal”. Luckily a few viticulturists around the world have rediscovered this exceptional variety and are now producing stunning wines from this little rascal.
Vintage: The 2026 Adelaide Hills vintage was a season of patience. A cool, wet spring delayed growth, before a warm, dry summer and gentle autumn allowed gradual ripening. The extended season retained natural acidity and aromatic lift while building flavour and structure, resulting in bright, balanced wines with purity, freshness and fine cool-climate detail.
Nose: Fresh stone fruits lead the nose, with Golden Delicious and crab apple adding a crisp apple character. Almond, apple blossom and jasmine bring a gentle nutty and floral lift.
Palate: The palate is crisp and refreshing, showing fresh apple and pear with a lovely textural mouthfeel. Bright acidity keeps the wine lively and carries the fruit through to a clean finish.
Pairing: Pair with a creamy mushroom risotto finished with roasted hazelnuts and fresh thyme. Adding porcini mushrooms brings extra savoury depth, while the toasted hazelnuts work beautifully with the wine’s almond and textural characters. Click For Recipe
